How to use it
- Choose the PDF (or drop it on the coloured area).
- Enter the maximum size the website accepts, in MB.
- Press Compress and download the result.
When this helps
- Visa and immigration: uploading scanned passports, bank statements or certificates to an online application that rejects large files.
- Job applications: attaching a CV and certificates to an applicant portal with a per-file limit.
- University and courses: submitting coursework or enrolment documents through a learning platform.
- Emailing a long scanned document that your mail provider bounces for being too large.
FAQ
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens in your browser; you can even switch off the internet after the page has loaded.
Why can’t I select the text any more?
We first try to shrink the file without touching its content. If that isn’t enough, each page is saved as a compressed image — that’s how scanned PDFs get small. Always keep the original.
What limit should I enter?
Whatever the site or form states (usually next to the upload button). If you don’t know, 2 MB is usually safe for email and portals.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Very large PDFs (hundreds of pages) can take longer on older phones.
